Weathered Wash Stand With Blue Crab
When we got this antique oak wash stand it was definitely showing its age with plenty of nicks, chips and stains, but it had good, solid “bones”. It was structurally sound, except for the original harp with the hanging rod that was so damaged it had to be discarded.
I saw great potential and envisioned a new lease on life with a weathered coastal look. To get it ready, I first sanded out some of the deeper nicks, cleaned the original hardware and cleaned/conditioned the oak top. The goal was to keep some of the character and “experience“ of this piece while giving it an updated look for today’s coastal home. I chose a linen white paint as a base color and then accented with light blue/green/gray color. The final step was to decoupage the blue crab graphic to the door front. The end result is a fresh look with weathered coastal vibe.
Local pickup is available for this item at Coconut Barrel in St. Augustine.
